Hey ya'll,
I want to introduce you to one of my very best friends in the world and one of the writers of my show "THE ADVENTURES OF RUBY GARDENIA"
KENYA WALKER
Kenya has been writing songs since 1987 and professionally since 1991. See what the late Great (and I cannot stress the Great enough) DIANNE PETTY had to say about her.
A Daughter of the South in the sixties, even her name sounds as if it were lifted from the pages of a Tennessee Williams play. Kenya Walker has followed her dream of contributing through the arts with passion and persistence, choosing to leave her home in Alabama in order to make her assault on the Music Industry, she picked a path more daring than the security home and family provided.
Since arriving in Nashville, Kenya has been a staff writer for Maypop Music, Hayes Street Music, BMG Music, and Big Yellow Dog/Sony Music. Several major label country artists have covered her songs. Kenya’s dynamic performance style and masterful writing quickly made her a favorite among the Nashville Songwriting community. She attracted the attention of Don Henry, (Grammy Award winning songwriter/producer/artist) who approached her about embarking on a solo recording career of her own. The end result of this collaboration is the 12 song CD entitled “Alligator Purse”.
The “Alligator Purse” CD led to a special invitation to contribute material for Aaron Spelling’s “Any Day Now”, on Life Time Network by producer and music supervisor request. Kenya co-wrote. Co-produced and performed special feature spots in select episodes of this series in 1998 through 2000 seasons.
Kenya Walker is a flamboyant performing talent and coupled with her dynamic flair for communication her inventive and inspiring songs, she is positioned for greatness. Her passion for touching the heart through her craft and her love of sharing intimate observations of the human spirit will surely be evident when you see her perform. Kenya will not be denied her chance to make the world more responsive to the little child alive in each of us. Listen to her voice and hear her vulnerability that begs us to become more sensitive human beings. Expect to be moved…Expect to be affected by what you hear… Expect to remember…Kenya Walker.
DIANNE PETTY-CDP MUSIC GROUP
I expect that Kenya will be more than willing to post the lyrics to the songs she wrote for me to sing in my show. So I am going to request that she does that every month for those of you who might be interested in the meaning of the songs I'm happy to sing for you.
Love,
Ruby
